L'avis des experts
The village red from La Vilella Alta 2021 Cirerets was produced with a blend of 60% Cariñena from a vineyard planted in 1962 (Finca La Veana) and 40% younger Garnacha from the Cirerets vineyard planted in 2002, both in La Vilella Alta, organically farmed and converted to biodynamics in 2016. The grapes fermented separately in concrete vats with selected yeasts, with 20% of Garnacha. The wines aged separately for some 16 months, with the Garnacha in used barrels and the Cariñena in new or second-use ones. It's ripe with 15.5% alcohol but balanced (the pH is 3.4), textured and with ripe tannins, pretty much reflecting the ripe and powerful house style, with generous but integrated oak and balance. 17,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2023.
