L'avis des experts

The Wine Advocate (Aug. 2012):

"The 2006 -200 Monges- Reserva is a blend of 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Garnacha fermented between 28 and 30 degrees and aged for 18 months in new French and American oak. It has a ripe, generous bouquet with damson, crushed violets and just a touch of brine. The oak is beautifully assimilated into the fruit profile. The palate is well-balanced with a classic, slightly herbaceous entry that is very fresh. The fruit is pure and expressive with firm, tannins towards the powdery off-dry finish. This is a very fine Rioja that needs two or three years in bottle. Drink 2014-2020."

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (Sep./Okt. 2013):

"Bright ruby. Aromatic, spice-accented nose evokes blackberry, fresh flowers and smoky oak. Sweet and seamless, with complex flavors of black raspberry, Asian spices and mocha lifted by a sexy floral element. Finishes smooth and broad, with very fine tannins and lingering spiciness."
