Tim Atkin:

Why buy Burgundy at crazy prices when Navarra can produce a wine like this? Under the Pequeñas Puertas umbrella, the Zorzal team pairs up with Argentine Matías Michelini to make single vineyard wines with distinct personalities. This is mostly Viura, with a little Garnacha Blanca, from a 40–50 year old plot in Cintruénigo planted on clay and limestone. A heady mix of tropical fruit, lemon, pineapple and woody spice, the wine offers beautiful palate weight and elegant acidity. The oak is present but as the 2020 demonstrates, it is super fine and should age gracefully.
