L'avis des experts

James Suckling:

Minty oak to the blackberries and briar with lots of cocoa powder and a hint of sandalwood, sweet spices and orange peel. Juicy and full-bodied with ductile, mealy tannins that evenly spread across the palate. Polished and very long finish. 100% tempranillo. Better wait until 2025 to let the oak settle more.

Tim Atkin:

Gaudium uses Tempranillo grapes from 14 different small parcels, aged between 50 and 90 years' old. It's very much an international style of Rioja, designed to sit alongside the top wines of Bordeaux and the Napa Valley in a sense. Plushly wooded in new French oak, it has floral, spicy top notes and a palate of cassis, blackberry and blood orange framed by supple tannins. 2026-40
