Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Aigrots 2020

An eloquent wine, with an evocative plummy fruit underscored with mineral, silky tannins and a lingering, subtle finish. Lafarge owns a hectare in the Clos des Aigrots, planted one-quarter to white and three to Pinot in the red clay soils here. Some of the vines are more than 70 years of age. In 2020, the ripe fruit was destemmed and carefully fermented before ageing mostly in used casks.

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots soars from the glass with aromas of wild berries, sweet spices, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, vibrant and intense, it's a deep, concentrated wine framed by velvety tannins and tangy acids. This will be very long lived.
